Amalfi coast

29/04/2025

From the 22nd to the 29th of April, my friends and I took a trip to the Amalfi coast. We thought that while we were in Italy, we had to explore the lemon-scented coast and its breathtaking landscapes.

What did we do on the Amalfi coast?

On the 27th, we went to Amalfi which is famous for its steep cliffs plunging into the sea and its turquoise waters. The landscape is truly incredible. We went to the city center and visited the ‘Sant'Andra’ cathedral. It combines three different styles : Romanesque, Baroque and Byzantine, thus making it an emblematic monument of the region. We also learned that Amalfi was once an extremely powerful maritime republic in medieval Italy, just like Venice and Pisa.

On the 28th, we decided to make our way to Positano. It is much more colourful than Amalfi. The architecture there is remarkably unique as the buildings cascade down towards the sea. It is a magical spectacle to admire. In the city center, we visited the ‘Santa Maria Assunta’ church. Its dome is covered in colourful tiles, which make it shine in the sun.

A quote about the Amalfi coast

‘Some places are so beautiful, they hurt to look at. The Amalfi Coast is one of them.’
